Binder Clips...no longer just for use in the office!
One of my favorite organizing tools are binder clips. These cute little clips now come in a variety of colors, sizes and styles, perfect for using all over the house.
In the kitchen:
- Instead of using "Chip-Clips" that are typically made of plastic and at least in my home break easily (I have two boys), use a binder clip to keep that chip or snack bag closed, and snacks fresh.
- Two binder clips make a great stand for your recipe card, keeping it vertical, and less likely to get dripped on.
- Attach a small but strong magnet, and you have a great way to organize menus, coupons, or kids art work on the fridge.
In the bathroom:
- A binder clip is great to put to the "squeeze" on your toothpaste. Simply roll up the bottom and clip for an easier squeeze.[via Funny or Die]
- Got samples of shampoos, conditioners or lotions in squeeze packs? Use a binder clip to keep your sample stash neat and ready to tuck in your toiletry bag for travel.
Home office:
- Organize your computer or other electronic device cords. Simply thread your cord through the silver handle (or remove handle, put cord in, and replace for larger cords), then clip to the edge of your desk. No more fishing behind the desk for your cords! [via Lifehacker]
- Use binder clips to sort mail into quick categories: Bills, Correspondence, Recycling and To File.
Got any other uses for binder clips? Please share!

Looking for an great way to declutter your kid's closets?
Have your kids grown a size (or two) since last fall? Do your kids have toys they have not played with in over a year? Now is a great time to purge their old clothes and toys, and here is a great way to for you to earn new-to-you, gently used clothes for your own children.
If you are not familiar with the website ThredUp, it is a website where you can list boxes of gently used (stain free, and in good condition) children's clothing and gently-used toys. Each time someone selects one of your boxes, you earn a credit for requesting a box of gently used, new-to-you clothing for your child.
To begin swapping items, simply become a member on their site, which is completely free. ThredUp will send you (for FREE) several USPS Medium Flat Rate boxes. Once you get your box of clothing or toys ready, it is very easy to list it with the template on the ThredUp website. When someone chooses your box, you simply need to print the pre-paid postage label from home (you don't pay the shipping cost), schedule a pick up with USPS and that's it.
You can list additional boxes and accumulate credits to use towards requesting boxes from other members of ThredUp. There is a $5 plus shipping fee for requesting a box. When requesting clothing for your kids, be sure to read the box item descriptions carefully. If you are unsure about items listed in a box, always contact the member to clarify before requesting it.
Enjoy cleaning out those closets knowing you can get a gently used, new-to-you clothing for your kids as you need them.

3 Ways Using a Timer Can Increase Your Daily Productivity
We all wish that we had more time each day to complete our to-do lists. Using a timer is a great way to increase your daily productivity and give you a sense of accomplishment. Here are a few ways you can use a timer to help you get more done each day:TIME-A-TASK: Is there a task that you really dislike doing, such as cleaning out a drawer, sorting laundry, or filing paperwork? At times, these tasks end up being moved over to our next day's to-do lists because they are not activities that we enjoy doing. One way to overcome your dislike for tackling at task is to determine exactly how long a task will take you. Try it. Set a timer when you start, and see exactly how long it takes you to finish. You may find sorting laundry only takes 10 minutes, or filing the monthly bill statements only takes 3 minutes. Knowing roughly how long a task will take makes it easier to make the time each day to get it done.
BEAT-THE-CLOCK: Do you have 30 minutes until that load of clothes dries? Choose a task you have been putting off, and instead of watching television, set the timer for 30 minutes. Determine to complete as much as you can within that 30 minute time frame. You will be amazed at what you can do when you focus your energies for a set period of time on a single task.
SET IT AND RELAX: Are you easily distracted, often run late, and need help staying on schedule? Using a kitchen timer can help you gain control over your time. Need to pick up the kids in an hour? Set your timer so you can work on a task or even relax, knowing you can focus on one thing without having to keep checking the clock. Once the alarm sounds, you know it's time to go.
